Dr. Manian Ramesh is the Chief Technology Officer for Nalco Company, a premier service organization addressing water, energy, air and process based needs of various industries. He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and was a Welch Fellow at Texas A&M University with Nobel Laureate Sir Derek Barton. He joined Nalco in 1990 as a Senior Chemist in the Corporate Research Group. Prior to his current role as Nalco’s CTO, Mani has served as Vice President Research & Development for Water, Process and Core Technologies (2005-07), Vice President Water and Core Technologies (2003-05), and Division Vice President, Research & Development for Global Core Technologies (2001-03).
Dr. Ramesh leads Nalco’s technology centers worldwide with more than 600 scientists, 50+% of them with Ph.D. degrees focusing on developing solutions for its 50,000 customers in more than 130 countries. He manages a budget of about $ 100 million and is responsible for developing Nalco’s technology strategies for its growth through innovation.
Dr. Ramesh holds 48 United States patents and more than 300 International patents. He has authored more than 50 peer reviewed publications and had been an invited speaker at various international conferences. He was inducted into the National Hall of Fame for Inventors in 1998. Dr. Ramesh led two Nalco teams that won US Presidential Green Chemistry Award in 1999 and 2008. He has served on several executive committees including the Water Energy Nexus under the US Senate Committee for Energy as well as in various selection committees for prestigious awards such as US Presidential Green Chemistry Award.
Dr. Ramesh is a Board Director for the Council of Chemical Research, and an Executive Member of the Advisory Board of King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.
